40 Years in Your Backyard: Why Crystalview Is Still North Vancouver's Most Trusted Outdoor Living Dealer

40 Years in Your Backyard: Why Crystalview Is Still North Vancouver's Most Trusted Outdoor Living Dealer

Some businesses mark anniversaries with a sale. We're marking ours with a story — because after 40 years, the story is the point.

When Crystalview opened in North Vancouver in 1986, the outdoor living industry looked completely different. There were no big box stores stocking hot tubs alongside garden hoses. No online checkout carts shipping spas from a warehouse in another province. And certainly no travelling spa expos rolling into the Lower Mainland for a high-pressure weekend and vanishing on Monday. Buying a hot tub, a quality patio set, or a sauna meant sitting down with someone who knew what they were talking about — someone you'd see again.

Forty years later, that's still exactly what we are.

Why Longevity in This Business Actually Matters

A hot tub costs thousands of dollars. A quality patio set that will anchor your outdoor space through BC winters and summers for fifteen years is a meaningful investment. A sauna is a room you're adding to your home. These are not impulse purchases, and they shouldn't be treated like ones.

What that means in practice is that the dealer you choose matters as much as the product you buy. Not because the products are interchangeable — they're not — but because what happens after the sale is just as important as the sale itself. Water chemistry questions. Warranty service. A pump that needs attention in year six. A cover that needs replacing. A part that isn't stocked anywhere else in Greater Vancouver.

We've been answering those calls for four decades. We'll be answering them for the next four.

A Brief History of Crystalview

1986 — We Open in North Vancouver

A small showroom, a commitment to honest advice, and a belief that Greater Vancouver families deserved a specialist — not a generalist selling everything from garden tools to gazebos.

The 1990s — Hot Tubs Become a BC Lifestyle

As demand for spas grew across the Lower Mainland, we became one of the region's most trusted Jacuzzi and Sundance Spas dealers. We learned what held up in the wet seasons, what BC backyards demanded, and what customers actually needed versus what they thought they wanted.

The 2000s — Outdoor Living Grows Up

We expanded our showroom to 15,000 square feet and grew our patio, fire table, and outdoor kitchen offering. The backyard wasn't just a place to put the BBQ anymore — it was an extension of the home. We leaned into that.

The 2010s — The Sauna Renaissance Begins

Traditional and infrared saunas found their way onto our floor as wellness culture moved from niche to mainstream. We brought in Visscher and Hekla, invested in knowing the product category deeply, and watched BC families build saunas the way previous generations built decks.

2026 — Our 40th Anniversary

New 2026 patio collections on the floor. Anniversary pricing across Jacuzzi, Sundance Spas, and Platinum Spas. A full lineup of Hekla and Visscher saunas. And the same phone number we've had for years: 604-985-0057.

What We Carry — And Why We Chose These Brands

We don't stock every brand that comes knocking. We carry the ones we'd buy ourselves.

Hot Tubs: Jacuzzi, Sundance Spas, and Platinum Spas cover every budget from entry-level to flagship — and every one is backed by a manufacturer warranty we service locally. Jacuzzi is the original, with precision jet engineering that no imitator has matched. Sundance is designed around real-life use — easy ownership, smart filtration, outstanding value. Platinum delivers serious hydrotherapy at a more accessible price point.

Saunas: The Hekla infrared range (100, 130, 160) offers full-spectrum infrared technology in compact, elegant cabins. The Visscher Luxe Line and Hekla Traditional series bring authentic Nordic steam to BC backyards, built to handle our climate and designed to last decades.

Patio: We carry Couture Jardin, E9 Luxury Living, Ratana, Dreamcast Design, Pyromania fire tables, and more — all in stock at our North Vancouver showroom, all available to see and sit in before you commit.

The One Thing You Can't Get Anywhere Else

We've watched the industry change dramatically over four decades. Travelling expos. Mass-market manufacturers cutting corners. Online platforms selling spas from warehouses with no local support. Through all of it, the families who buy thoughtfully — who visit a showroom, ask the hard questions, and buy from someone accountable — are the ones who are still happy with their purchase five, ten, fifteen years later.

That's not a sales pitch. It's just what 40 years of watching this category teaches you.

The customers who bought their first hot tub from us in the early 1990s are now helping their adult children choose one. The patio furniture we sold a family in Coquitlam in 2008 still gets sat in every summer. These are the relationships that make four decades in business more than a milestone — they make it meaningful.
